Pudalangai Kootu

Ingredients
 
500 gm snake gourd/pudalangai/padwal
2 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp split Bengal gram (chana dal)
2 tbsp pepper corns
3 red chillis (lal mirch)
1/2 cup fresh gritted coconut
1 cup split green gram (yellow moong dal) 
5 cups hot water
1 spoon turmeric powder
salt
1 tbsp mustard seed
1 tbsp split black gram (urad dal)
Asafoetida (hing)
some curry leaves
