Ingredients:
• Rice : 2 Cups (Washed, drained water & • dried )
• Oil • Water
• Moong dal / Split Green Gram : ½ Cup
• Chana Dal / Split Bengal Gram : ½ Cup • Butter : 2 tbsp
• Heeng / Asafoetida : ½ tsp
• Salt as per taste Method:
• In a bowl – Wash Rice & Soak for 30 mins.
After 30 minus drain water and spread on a kitchen towel.
• Fry Chana dal, till hot (don’t allow to change its colour)
• Similarly fry moong dal. Fry & cool
• Grind them in a mixer jar to a smooth powder
• Sieve the flour and ensure that there are no lumps
• Take a bowl/vessel – add the Rice Flour & Dal Flours. Mix well with a whisker.
• To this add Salt, Heeng & Butter. Mix well. Sprinkle water little by little and make a smooth dough
• Now Murukku dough is ready
• I’m going to use “Star Mould” for making Murukku
• Take 2 handful of dough and put it in the mould. Close it with a lid
• Heat oil in a Pan
• When the Oil is hot, squeeze the dough with the Chakli mould into a round shaped Murukku (or) Grease a small plate with oil. Make /squeeze the Murukku and then invert it into the hot oil.
• Fry these Murukkus, till they become golden brown in colour.
• Our Butter Chakli or Murukkus are ready !!!
