Make this during this festive season and enjoy!!!! Ingredients Figs or Anjeer - 1 cup Dates or Khajur - 1 cup Pistachios - 1/4 cup Almonds or Badam - 1/4 cup Cashewnuts or Kaju - 1/4 cup Raisins or Kismis - 1/4 cup Walnut or Akrot - 1/4 cup Poppy seeds or khus thus - 2 to 3 tsp Ghee or Clarified Butter - 1/4 cup Gulkhand - 2 tbsp Cardamom Powder - 1 tsp Nutmeg Powder - 1/4 tsp Edible Silver Leaf - for garnish (optional) Preparation: Soak the figs or anjeer in water for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes` drain the water and pat them dry. Grind them into a fine paste and set it aside. Finely chop all of the dry nuts and set aside. Deseed the dates and grind them into a paste as well. Now heat ghee in a pan. When the ghee turns hot` add in the fig paste and sauce for couple of minutes. Next add in the dates paste and saute for couple of minutes until the mixture becomes slightly thick. Add in all the chopped nuts - walnuts` pista` cashews` raisins and almonds. Mix everything well for couple of minutes. Add in the gulkhand next. It gives a nice flavour to the barfi. Add in the cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Add in poppy seeds and mix everything really well. The barfi mixture is now ready. When it slightly cools down` transfer that into a rectangular dish lined with parchment paper. You can also apply little ghee on the parchment paper. Transfer the barfi mixture into the dish and level it with the help of a spoon. Press it slightly so that there are no gaps in between. Now set this in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes` remove from the refrigerator and place it on a cutting board. Remove the parchment paper from the edges. If you have edible silver leaf` you can put it on top of the barfi. Now cut them into square pieces and your dry fruits barfi is ready to be served.
